Ratio Anti-Xa/Anti-Iia Activity

Ratio Anti-Xa/Anti-Iia Activity

In the experiment with 0.8 anti?FXa IU mL –1 bemiparin, appreciable anti?FIIa activity (0.1 anti?FIIa IU mL –1) was also present in plasma. Analysis of the role of the anti?FXa and anti?FIIa activity on the distinct phases of thrombin generation. With respect to anti?FXa activity , the effect of each LMWH on thrombin generation …

an anti-Xa:anti -IIa ratio between 2:1 and 4:1.1 It is this reduced anti-IIa activity which makes the activated partial thromboplastin time less reliable for monitoring low molecular weight heparins. At present there is no evidence to show that the differences in anti-Xa activity among the low molecular weight heparins influence clinical outcomes.1, Thus, it has the lowest (2:1) anti-Xa/anti -IIa activity ratio , compared to bemiparin’s ratio of 8:1 and enoxaparin’s ratio of 3.9:1.

Several of the newly developed anti-Xa and anti-IIa agents have been shown to influence the International Normalized Ratio (INR) values. During phase I trials with normal healthy volunters and phase II study patients who were given warfarin and concomitant anti-IIa or anti-Xa agents, it has been reported that INR values were falsely elevated.

Results: At equivalent anti-FIIa activity concentrations, LMWHs and UFH exhibited similar inhibitory effects upon thrombin generation. However, when used at equivalent anti-FXa activity concentrations, tinzaparin was significantly more active than the other LMWHs at inhibiting thrombin generation, and had similar activity to that of UFH.

8/17/2012  · The henicosasaccharide (8, 21-mer) showed stronger anti-IIa activity , with an anti-Xa/anti -IIa ratio of 1:2 (Fig. 3 B and Table 4). The anti-Xa/anti -IIa ratio for heparin was 1:1 ( Table 4 ). Our data suggest that the oligosaccharides should be longer than 21 saccharide units to fully exhibit both anti-Xa and anti-IIa activities comparable with …

7/1/2013  · Enoxaparin and danaparoid, besides anti-Xa activity , also have some anti-IIa activity . The anti-Xa/anti -IIa ratio is 3.9 for enoxaparin, greater than 20 for danaparoid, and infinite for fondaparinux, which could partially explain the differences between the effect of these anticoagulants on routine coagulation tests and dPT ratios .

This decreases their ability to bind to thrombin, giving an anti-Xa:anti -IIa ratio between 2:1 and 4:1. 1 It is this reduced anti-IIa activity which makes the activated partial thromboplastin time less reliable for monitoring low molecular weight heparins.

The dosing of all LWMHs is based on the amount of inhibition of Xa and IIa and is commonly reported as the anti-Xa:anti -IIa activity ratio .1-4 This ratio was established by the World Health Organization First International Low Molecular Weight Heparin Reference Standards and reflects the differences between the individual LMWHs.
